323. Ten Years

Yeah, I can’t believe it’s been ten years since I graduated high school either.. though, in all honesty, the reunion was a lot of fun. I can’t say that I went in with the highest of hopes, and maybe that had something to do with how good it actually ended up being.

I had always heard that high school reunions were nothing more than an opportunity for the insecure to brag about their accomplishments post high school, but truthfully, I ran into very little of that.

I was also surprised by how little most of the people I remembered had actually changed. Maybe it’s because facebook is so prevalent now, and maybe it’s because ten years isn’t really that long in the big scheme of things, but if you took away the spouses and significant others, I would have almost thought no time had passed at all.

Of course, we did drink a lot.. and, since I didn’t drink in high school, perhaps some of my nervousness to see people I hadn’t seen for so long was because I hadn’t taken into account what a great equalizer alcohol can be. I mean seriously, you get a few beers in me, and I think I’m HILARIOUS.

I know, I know.. I’m not.

Though, drinking does give me the opportunity to look at pictures from the night, after the fact.. wondering:

“Was I throwing a tantrum and refusing to come down the ladder at the dock we met at?”

Or..

“Was I really that guy?”

And in all probability, the answer will always be..

“Yes.”
